This is worth a bookmark….a university-based social science research initiative that focuses on areas of strategic importance to the U.S. national security policy.
The Minerva Research Initiative, an endeavour of the US Department of Defence, is focused on enhancing the understanding of security through social science research. Launched in 2008, it emphasises unclassified, university-based projects with the aim of wide dissemination to foster stable and safe communities. The initiative plays a unique role in bridging research and policy within the Department of Defence, administered jointly by the Office of Basic Research and the Office of Policy. It provides grants and fellowships, such as the Defence Education and Civilian University Research (DECUR) Partnership and the Bilateral Academic Research Initiative (BARI) Social Science Program. These efforts aim to augment the Department’s understanding of social, cultural, behavioural, and political forces in regions of strategic importance to the US.
